Spiritual Wellness Program
Waterman Village is highly committed to providing staff and facilities to support a robust and engaging spiritual wellness program. This is rare among retirement-living communities. Waterman Village is an outstanding choice if you’re looking for a community where you can be active and involved in a variety of spiritual activities and events.
Our Department Director of Spiritual Wellness is Pastor Fred Boone.
Our vibrant Chapel Fellowship congregation holds Sunday morning non-denominational services in our Alan Jones Garden of Life Fellowship Hall (Chapel). Regular single and couple Bible studies, as well as other activities and events, are held. A Men’s Bible Study has begun every Tuesday at 10:30 am in the chapel.
Residents tell us they immediately sense the peace, love, warmth, and fellowship on the Waterman Village campus. Individuals of all faiths are joyfully welcomed in a spirit of unity.

Objectives and Services
The Chaplain’s role is to promote the spiritual well-being of our residents and community. The Spiritual Wellness Department provides pastoral care through visitation and spiritual programming, fostering a caring community at Waterman Village.
We encourage our residents to be involved in the congregation of their choice. There is a weekly Interfaith Worship Service in the Garden of Life Fellowship Hall at 10:30 am each Sunday. Everyone is invited to this inclusive Christian fellowship.
The quality of your spiritual life is essential to living at Waterman Village. The Garden of Life Fellowship Hall is open for meditation and prayer when not in use. A special prayer request can be placed on the communion table, which the Chaplain will include in the prayer ministry. Please contact the Chaplain if there is any way they can help with your spiritual needs.
Caring Visitation
The Chaplain visits residents’ homes at the hospital during times of spiritual crisis, at the time of death, for funeral and memorial planning, and for pastoral counseling to help them cope with life’s stressful situations. Appointments to meet with the Chaplain can be made by calling the Chaplain’s office at your request.
Caring Programs for Heart and Soul
The Spiritual Wellness Department collaborates with the Activities Department to offer a variety of programs for residents of Waterman Village.
- Sunday Worship—10:30 am in the Oaks Garden of Life Fellowship Hall. This worship is an inclusive Christian fellowship with a simple order of service. Communion is offered bi-monthly. A Love Offering is received each Sunday and used to help specific needs as proposed by the Spiritual Wellness Committee.
- Bible Study – Conducted one day per week. The study group lasts for one hour. All are welcome to participate in this interactive study.
- Annual Celebration of Life Memorial Service—In November, an afternoon service is held in the Oaks Garden of Life Fellowship Hall to honor residents who have passed away during the past year.
- Support Group Ministry—The Spiritual Wellness Department offers a six-week Bereavement Support Group upon request. An Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the Bridgewater Chapel from 1:30 to 4:00 pm.
- Prayer Team—Prayer requests are honored weekly at the Bible Study and during Sunday Worship. You can request special prayer by calling the Chaplaincy Services office at extension 229 or by submitting your request in writing and placing it in the basket located on the communion table in the Garden of Life Fellowship Hall.
Caring Community
The Spiritual Wellness Committee, a volunteer group of residents, meets monthly with the Chaplain to discuss and provide guidance on spiritual programming and the distribution of the Love Offering Fund.
The Chaplain collaborates with other community pastors. The Chaplain is also available to support and counsel staff and their families. The Chaplain serves on several committees and attends staff meetings as assigned by the Administration.
Love Offering Fund
Love Offering donations are primarily collected from the weekly worship service offering. Donations are also received from residents at different times for memorials or special needs. The Spiritual Wellness Committee manages and authorizes spending on the Love Offering. The goal is to allocate 50% of the offering to support a number of caring organizations in Lake County (Food Pantry, Camp Challenge, Ruth’s House, etc.). The remaining 50% is used for equipment and special needs within Waterman Village.
Since we are a 501(C) 3 not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization, you will receive a tax deduction for your contribution. All donations are confidential, as per your preference for recognition.
