Why move early to The Oaks or Lakeside Retirement Communities

Rather than move from their home of many years to a 55+ community or condominium, or after they’ve lived at a 55+ community for awhile, more adults than ever are realizing the benefits of moving to a Waterman Village Retirement Community.  Why?  The Oaks residents, and soon to be Lakeside residents, have easy access to assisted living, nursing/post hospital rehab., and memory care facilities at Waterman Village, as well as a variety of health care services at Waterman Village (physician, dental, pain management, podiatry, outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy, in home health care, and pharmacy).  Very unique in Florida, as well as the U.S., to have all these facilities and services available right on the same campus, as one ages.

We are Florida’s TOTAL retirement living campus since 1989!

Having these living facilities and health services on/adjacent to the Waterman Village campus, allows The Oaks and Lakeside residents to have the peace of mind knowing: 1) they’ll always be able to stay/remain at Waterman Village, 2) they’ll always be able to live near/close to their spouses and Waterman Village friends, and 3) they won’t have to worry about having to rely on family members to have to make what are sometimes very difficult decisions FOR them in the future (ex. when to sell a home, where to live, how and where to get help when needed).

It really is the best gift one can give to their children

The benefit to residents?

  • no need to have to make ‘another’ major move

  • the comprehensive/robust activity calendar, maintains their overall optimal health longer, compared to living alone
  • no need to worry about how or where to obtain future health facilities and/or health services, should their health needs increase, thus increasing their personal indepedence

  • they’ve planned out ‘their own futures’ (not family or others ‘for’ them)

  • spouses can live within walking distance to one another, should one require short term rehab. in the Edgewater Medicare Five Star Rated Health & Rehabilitation Center located on the Waterman campus.

Tips on choosing a retirement community (video below) from leading retirement/senior living industry expert of 40 years, Jeff the Gerontologist

In 2002, I looked at a new Manor. It overlooked the Nature Preserve and was rested on the Woodbury Avenue unit below.  I liked what I saw, committed, and moved in near the end of the year.  It was a decision that I have never regretted.  For almost 17 years, I have lived in a Premier retirement community.  Among the advantages: everything on one floor, an excellent Lodge dining room, plus a casual Deli and an upscale Bistro with a top manager.  A Wellness Center, nicely equipped and a walking trail.  The landscaping is outstanding – always being maintained.  Nearby are a drug and grocery store, as well as a bank.  Well cared for sedans drive you to medical services.  I enjoy moving about in my golf cart, have a garage for it and my car and best of all, I can close the door behind me and go where I choose on the campus with a feeling of complete safety.  What else could I want!
