The Oaks at Waterman Village.
Waterman Village’s flagship retirement community since 1989
Part of Florida’s TOTAL retirement community campus
The Oaks is Waterman Village’s original retirement community campus. The Oaks opened in 1989 and is located directly across the street from our Lakeside at Waterman Village retirement community.
The Oaks and Lakeside are conveniently connected to each other by a golf cart/pedestrian bridge over Donnelly Street. It’s easy to get back and forth to a different activity, dining area, etc.
The Oaks offers duplex and quad-plex homes only. Oaks residents can now drive their golf carts to beautiful downtown Mount Dora, just a mile or two away.
The best plan to secure one’s independence as long as possible
The Oaks residents pay a monthly service fee and an initial ‘buy-in’ fee that we call a ‘life-lease’ fee.
This type of fee is common for retirement communities that offer independent living, assisted living, memory care, and a nursing / post-hospital rehab center all on one campus. Living at a community like this increases one’s odds of remaining both independent and active longer throughout life. Something we all desire.
Most of the new retirement communities being built today, especially in The Villages, FL area, only offer independent living and assisted living/memory care, lacking a skilled nursing/post-hospital rehab center on their campuses. If a person lives in one of these newer types of communities and are sent to the hospital and require a post-hospital nursing/rehab center upon discharge, they have no idea where they’ll be sent to, nor any idea of the quality of care the facility provides.
Unique financial options/agreements to choose from to best suit one’s needs
At Waterman Village, you’re not ‘forced’ to choose a plan where you pay a large entrance fee that’s completely amortized or non-refundable after living at the community just a few years, like some communities require. You have a variety of plan choices that best meet your own particular situation, needs and desires. And, for those who already possess long-term care insurance, Waterman Village is the ideal type of full-service/progressive retirement living community to move to.
“I was a state licensed assisted living and nursing home administrator for 25 years and have worked in many retirement/senior living communities in several states over the last 40 years, both for profit and not for profit. If was looking for a place for myself or loved one, I would choose/recommend a community that had a ‘not for profit‘ organizational structure and one with a faith-based tradition if possible, even if one is not religious or spiritual. Those communities with this type of set up, provided a much higher level of care in their care areas than those I worked at that were part of a for-profit corporation or had an ‘off-site management’ company” Jeff Bassett – Gerontologist
Florida’s TOTAL community
The Oaks offers three dining venues, a staffed gatehouse 24/7, and priority access to all the amenity, living and service areas Waterman Village has to offer. Residents can walk or golf cart to dental and doctor offices, as well as a physical therapy clinic. You can now take your golf cart to downtown Mount Dora. Adjacent to Waterman Village is a hardware store, a grocery store and a Walgreens.
Like a ride to an on-campus activity, the dentist, the doctor, our church, or to one of our six dining areas? Complimentary golf cart transportation is available to residents, door to door, 24/7.
Florida’s top retirement community town
Waterman Village is located in Florida’s TOP RANKED and number four ranked in the nation, small town to retire to according to USA TODAY. Resident Comments
“We did much online research and physical looking at retirement communities. We had lived in Orlando for 21 years and enjoyed spending time in Mount Dora. We both had lived in small towns in Pennsylvania, and we came to love the atmosphere of Mount Dora. We wanted to make a move while we’re still young and able to live independently. The activities here are many and suit us well. We have no children or family so we feel very comfortable knowing progressive care is available should one of us need it. The community is top notch in all departments. After living here for two years, the residents are like family.”
– Jack & Valerie (moved from Orlando)
“We recently moved into Waterman Village after a 2-year wait, and it has already been well worth the wait! We searched for over a year; and after visiting many places, we decided on Waterman as our future permanent home. What brought us here is the friendliness of the staff, the tree-lined neighborhood atmosphere, the professionally-run community, the many amenities, and the fact that we can get part of the entrance fee back. So happy we chose Waterman! Thank you Lord and thank you Waterman Village”.
– Richard and Jean (moved from Palm Coast)
“We were living in a 55+ community just outside Leesburg. The more we talked about it, the more we liked the idea of a simpler life, a maintenance-free home, having care nearby if needed, the ability to travel with greater ease, and peace of mind for our children. And so our search began, and we prayed for guidance. “The more we looked, the more Waterman felt like home to us. Parking was important, as was the house – both seemed to suit our needs. And of course, Mount Dora was a draw as well. Our children are scattered across the country. They were surprised, supportive and delighted for us when they learned of our decision to make ‘the big move.’“We’re going into our third month, loving our home, our front porch, and our neighbors. Our grateful prayer goes on…Bless you, Waterman Village…Thank you, God!
– Ron and Susan (moved from Leesburg)
