Golf Cart Use on City Streets – Important Guidelines for Mt. Dora

Following recent discussions about golf cart use in the City of Mount Dora, we want to clarify where residents may legally operate their golf carts. There is a common misconception that golf carts can be driven anywhere a car can be driven. This is not the case. Golf cart use is restricted on certain roadways, and it is important that all residents follow these regulations to avoid citations. Please review the guidelines below:

❌ Areas Where Golf Carts Are NOT Permitted

1. Donnelly Street (from U.S. 441 to Limit Avenue)
   • Golf carts are not permitted on this section of Donnelly.
   • This includes traveling between The Oaks and Lakeside via Donnelly.
   • All residents must use the designated golf cart bridge.
2. Donnelly Street to Access Walgreens or Key Food Plaza
   • Golf carts may not be used on Donnelly to reach these locations.
3. Crossing U.S. 441 to Access CVS or Publix
   • Golf carts are not permitted to cross U.S. 441.
4. Limit Avenue (to Reach Donnelly)
   • While you may cross over Limit Avenue, you may not drive along Limit to reach Donnelly.
   • Instead, proceed to the next cross street (for example, 11th Avenue) to access Donnelly.
   • Law enforcement recommends avoiding Limit Avenue whenever possible when traveling downtown.

✅ Areas Where Golf Carts ARE Permitted

1. Fiddler Avenue
   • Residents may use Fiddler Avenue to access the new restaurants located off U.S. 441.
   • There is legal access available without driving on U.S. 441.
2. Grandview Extension
   • From Fiddler Avenue, when it intersects with Grandview Extension, residents may use Grandview to travel downtown.

Downtown Operation Reminder

Once downtown, golf cart operators must obey all traffic laws just as if driving a car. This includes stopping at stop signs, following traffic signals, yielding appropriately, and adhering to posted signage. Failure to comply may result in a traffic citation.
