Dining Services at The Oaks Retirement Community

Succulent Selections

The Choice, the Quality, and the Service.  Some residents have specifically chosen to move to (or back to) The Oaks Retirement Community at Waterman Village, because of our dining services experience. You really need to compare, before choosing another community. There are three different dining venues/options to choose from:

Waterman Village Cafe

Located in the Lodge, the Waterman Village Café is open M-F from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and offers breakfast, homemade soups, sandwiches, entrees, salads, daily specials and weekly cookouts. Residents can purchase a loaf of bread, juice, milk, etc.  There’s also a quick ‘grab and go’ section. You can either dine in or take out.

The Lodge Dining Room

The Lodge Dining Room is open Mon-Sat from 11:30 – 1:00 for lunch Mon-Sun from 4:45 – 7:00 for dinner.  An extensive ‘brunch’ is held on Sundays from 11-2. Try one of our home made soups, made fresh daily! You can select from an extensive gourmet buffet with a variety of main entrees, side items, and a fresh carved meat. Or, you can order from a menu. There are ample ‘wait staff’ at your service . . . . . . so you don’t have to do a single thing, except come in, sit down, and be waited on. There is a fresh salad bar with a nice selection of fruits, vegetables, and salads. And, make sure to save room for our ‘world renowned’ 14 foot dessert area, with many desserts being made by our in-house bakers.

The Bistro

The intimate Five-Star Bistro is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner, and Wednesday through Friday for lunch. The Bistro offers an elegant ambiance, with selections for a more sophisticated palette. Enjoy some twin lobster tails, grilled salmon, filet of premium beef.      Bistro Luncheon Menu     Bistro Dinner Menu  ‘In-the-Wings’ club members are entitled to eat in the Bistro by advanced reservation. At one time, it was considered one of top restaurants in Mount Dora, when it was open to the public.

Prefer not to drive or walk to one of the dining venues? Just call us and we’ll pick you up at your front door and return you back to your front door.  Meal delivery service is also available for a nominal charge.

In 2002, I looked at a new Manor. It overlooked the Nature Preserve and was rested on the Woodbury Avenue unit below.  I liked what I saw, committed, and moved in near the end of the year.  It was a decision that I have never regretted.  For almost 17 years, I have lived in a Premier retirement community.  Among the advantages: everything on one floor, an excellent Lodge dining room, plus a casual Deli and an upscale Bistro with a top manager.  A Wellness Center, nicely equipped and a walking trail.  The landscaping is outstanding – always being maintained.  Nearby are a drug and grocery store, as well as a bank.  Well cared for sedans drive you to medical services.  I enjoy moving about in my golf cart, have a garage for it and my car and best of all, I can close the door behind me and go where I choose on the campus with a feeling of complete safety.  What else could I want!
