Lakeside at Waterman Village Celebrates Its Grand Opening

On October 21, 2020, we celebrated the groundbreaking for Lakeside at Waterman Village, 159 brand-new, customizable independent living homes surrounding Lake Margaret. And on August 25, 2022, we celebrated the grand opening of this beautiful 37-acre expansion.

“Lakeside at Waterman Village really is something to celebrate,” Waterman Village CEO/President Andrew Dujon said. “As more and more seniors come to Mount Dora, we’re answering an important demand for an active, vibrant retirement option. This is a great way to kick off our fourth decade of service to our residents.”

The grand opening ceremony featured entertainment by The Bobby Koelble Trio and tours of the new neighborhood. Billed as “light refreshments,” guests also raved about the amazing spread, prepared by Lakeside’s culinary team. According to one attendee, “It not only looked good, but it also tasted great.”

Adding to the fun, a backdrop was set up where celebrants could take selfies at the “bar” with two residents and the bartender. Several residents stopped by early in the festivities to try the selfie station out for themselves, after which attendees stopped by to have their pictures taken with the residents and newly “famous” bartender.

Maybe the biggest surprise of the evening was supplied by Lakeside Marketing Manager Abe Zimmerman who closed the evening out by joining the band to sing a wonderful rendition of “My Girl.” Abe was ably joined on backing vocals by “The Abettes” (composed of Independent Living Counselor Pam Simons, Move In/Event Coordinator Ingrid Fucella and Administrative Assistant Alondra Salinas), all of whom had the residents dancing.

All of this was done to celebrate the grand opening of Waterman Village’s newest neighborhood, which features a wide variety of stylish, comfortable and maintenance-free residences, many of which have lake views. Condo-style homes range in size from 836 to 1,801 square feet and feature either under-building or covered parking. Single-story detached villas range from 1,351 to 1,719 square feet and feature attached garages.

But the Lakeside at Waterman Village is far more than just beautiful and spacious new homes. Located inside the Lakeside Grand building, the new Lifestyle Center is the amenity-filled hub of the community. It features a state-of-the-art fitness center with exercise classes and personal training available, a wonderful, full-service waterfront restaurant, “Savor” and a sports bar. Just outside is a stunning pool and spa, perfect for swimming laps, taking aquacise classes and socializing, as well as a picturesque walking path that circles Lake Margaret. Lakeside residents also have access to the full slate of amenities just across the bridge at Waterman Village, including lifetime access to exceptional on-site health services.

Of course, you can’t talk about Waterman Village without pointing out that it’s just minutes away from Mount Dora, Florida’s top small-town retirement destination. With its charming downtown playing host to unique local merchants, delicious eateries, theatrical events and an almost endless string of very popular festivals, it feels like Mount Dora is simply an extension of the Waterman Village campus. And with Orlando less than an hour away, long-distance travel is convenient, not to mention the ability to enjoy the major attractions and big-city amenities it has to offer.
