Web Editor - Thursday, September 07, 2017

Dear friends of Waterman Village:

September 13

Hurricane Irma Clean Up

Now that power has been restored to the entire Waterman Campus, we are now focussing on clean up of downed trees.

Power restored to the entire Waterman Village campus! Approximately 8:35 pm September 12. THANK YOU DUKE ENERGY!

Update September 12: from Andrew Dujon, President & CEO

Food Delivery after Hurricane Irma

Food delivery to residents before power was restored on Sept 12.

To our friends of Waterman Village.

I feel very blessed that Waterman Village came through the storm with no major damage, and especially no loss of life. Our residents are safe and secure! We are without power just like much of the rest of our state. We have been working through the local Lake County Emergency Operations Center, to get assistance, and they are doing the best they can as well.

We felt it was best to leave the residents in place, where they would be in a familiar environment, with their own beds, with the staff they are used to seeing every day and where we can assure the timely delivery of meals and medications.

The Edgewater is operating under generator power and we have been going door to door in the residential living neighborhood, to deliver meals and see how everyone is doing. I have spoken with many of our residents and their spirits are good. They are supportive and complimentary of our efforts, and especially patient, for which I am extremely grateful.

I assure you, our residents comfort and safety are our primary concern and we are doing everything within our power to keep them that way. Without power, our phones are not working. At present, the best way to reach us is at: info@watermanvillage.com. We will do our best to respond to any inquiry as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Andrew Dujon, President & CEO

Update: September 11:

Operating on back up power. Staff has been tremendous. Trees down.
Thankfully, the large ones DID not hit homes or buildings.
Duke Energy called. We are on their priority status.
End Update

The safety of all residents at Waterman Village is our first priority. Our staff has been in close contact with local officials, and we are not currently under an evacuation order.

Residents have been notified they may leave on their own, but Waterman Village plans to shelter in place.

All necessary precautions and preparations have taken place. This includes having team members on site to provide care, backup generators and enough food, water, supplies and medication for the duration of the storm and the days following.
